May is Affordable Housing Month
Good neighborhoods begin with good neighbors!
This Affordable Housing Month, you’re invited to join us in imagining a Bay Area where all its residents are looked after, cared for, and thriving, because we are all neighbors!
Whether you’re a farmworker in North Bay or tech innovator in South Bay, an artist in East Bay or a student in San Francisco – no matter your stage of life, race, or income, you are our neighbor and you belong here.
One of the most fundamental aspects of living and thriving in a neighborhood is having access to a safe, stable, and affordable home. Yet many of our Bay Area neighbors are unhoused, and still others are unable to afford the cost of housing in the region. Rising rents and property costs have left adequate housing options out of reach for thousands upon thousands of our neighbors. And this lack of adequate affordable housing disproportionally affects communities of color, the result of generations of exclusionary policies and institutional racism that have created an unjust housing system.
This Affordable Housing Month, we invite you to say “yes” to proven, evidence-based solutions that can ensure that every person has a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home. We invite you to join us in being a good neighbor and imagining a community where everyone sees you as their neighbor.
Because when we all thrive, we can build stronger, more resilient and diverse communities, ones where all our neighbors belong.
