Join the Eviction Defense Collaborative, one of the oldest and most comprehensive anti-displacement direct service providers in the nation, to mark the 40th anniversary of the passage of San Francisco's Rent Ordinance. Panelists will discuss the history of rent control in SF; its impact on the city and region; and what's ahead for San Francisco and California. Keynote speaker will be organizer and author Cleve Jones. Panelists will include former San Francisco Supervisor Jane Kim; Deepa Varma, San Francisco Tenants Union; Leah Simon-Weisberg, Centro Legal de La Raza; Lupe Arreola, Tenants Together; and Polly Marshall, one of the original drafters of the Rent Ordinance. Panel and reception will be hosted in the Twitter Building, in Downtown San Francisco. Tickets sales close June 10th; nonprofit staff ticket packages available.
