CCHO & EBHO: Holding Ground - Models for Artist Housing in a Time of Displacement

Join artists, affordable housing developers, community land trusts, arts and housing policy advocates, and community-driven organizations creating new solutions for affordable artist housing across the Bay Area.

The Bay Area’s creative community is at a turning point. Artists are a defining part of the region’s cultural identity, yet rising housing costs and shrinking institutional support are making it increasingly difficult for artists to live and work here. The closure of long-standing arts institutions and the displacement of creative workers raise urgent questions about the future of the Bay’s cultural ecosystem. At the same time, new initiatives—such as dedicated artist housing developments and policy efforts to support creative workers—present an opportunity to rethink how the Bay Area supports artists.

This panel discussion with Q&A and affordable housing resource fair brings together artist housing organizations and advocates who share a commitment to ensuring artists can remain part of the Bay Area’s future. Together we are exploring solutions that allow low-income artists not only to survive in the region, but to continue shaping our neighborhoods, culture, and civic life.
